And now, behold, the cry of the people of Israel has come to me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:9-10 (ESV)
(1) Putting aside “the how”
We can get more relief from depressing thoughts by putting aside the need to understand how God will help us - and instead just believing that He will. In the context of faith, trying to understand "the how" and using our own limited logic of what can happen blocks our faith and brings us down.
I unpack this with the Word, and then with a story of a middle aged man who has to overcome the thoughts that the mistakes he's made in life are too great. Nevertheless, he gets relief when he hears from the Holy Spirit and then just simply chooses to believe God.
But, you might think, how does not knowing "how something will happen" help us to believe that it will happen? Well, because when we try to analyze how God will work things out, we try to make ourselves into God. Instead let's take care of our life and let God do His job.
